Washington SHARP Alert – Roofer Falls 19 Feet

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Washington Safety and Health Assessment and Research for Prevention (SHARP) Program has released a new construction fatality alert.  In March 2015, a 31-year-old roofer fell 19 feet after unhooking his fall protection in order to reach materials.  He was later found unconscious and died 12 days later.  Recommendations include ensuring systems are in place to protect workers from falls, always maintaining tie-offs while working at height, performing compliance inspections, and encouraging safety prioritization in the workplace.
